The consortium of this project has produced a video introduction with the core themes of the project. The primary focus here is to develop a solution for failure protection in terms of safety-critical driving functions, targeted for Level 4 automated driving. On the 26th of November 2019, an information evening was held at the voluntary fire department in Uettingen where our employee, Tobias gave a lecture regarding "Electrical safety mechanisms in hybrid and electric vehicles".

The participants from Uettingen and its surrounding towns villages were able to gain interesting insights into the research and development of this topic. In addition to the technical behavior of the security systems, scenarios from everyday life of the fire fighters were discussed and explained using illustrative materials in the form of real components, also with a plug-in hybrid vehicle. The trigger for this event was the increasing amount of news about accidents involving electric and hybrid vehicles. Often, those involved in these accidents lacked the technical details about these new types of vehicle.

On the 15th and 16th of November 2019, our company was involved in a hackathon that took place in Marktheidenfeld, in collaboration with Schneider Electric.

In total, 34 students had the opportunity to participate in various related tasks that had the potential to shape the future, consecutively for 24 hours. The broad focus studies of the hackathon were on electromobility, Industry 4.0 and the Internet of Things (IoT), where students worked in groups on the requirements of specific topics based on the broad focus. An example topic was the robot-assisted loading and unloading of trucks, where the subtask was to work together to enable a complete business model. There was no limit to creativity, helped of course with a cozy environment with chill areas, meal breaks and entertainment from a band.

On the 30th of September 2019, the Autokonf project was successfully completed after three years.

The project was funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF), with the focus of finding a solution such as a backup protection system for safety-critical driving functions that enable automated driving level 4. The new concept could not only reduce the system complexity for automated driving and make it economical. See further information among our projects or at www.autokonf.de.

On the 26th of September 2019, we were present at the wiring system congress in the University of Applied Sciences at Landshut with the keynote on the subject of "E/E Concept Study of a Disruptive L5 Vehicle".

The specialized talk delved into the architectural concept of an autonomous taxi, where the main focus was on the requirements for the E/E architecture and its systems which were required for a disruptive vehicle concept with level 5 functionality and multiple redundancies for a full functional integrity even after a single fault is introduced into the system. Furthermore, the main components were classified according to the ISO 26262 standard and assigned to independent energy sources. Also, possible networking architectures were shown, and a comparison was made with the radical approaches of established vehicle manufacturers.
